What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Administrator 3 (Safety Congress Event Manager, PN 20067416) position at Ohio BWC (official)?
BWC’s core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC’s seven offices across the state.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Ohio Safety Congress & Expo®, hosted annually by the Division of Safety & Hygiene-Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, is the largest FREE work safety event in the nation focusing on helping employers improve safety and health within their business. Over 9,000 attendees gain knowledge with CEU credits by participating in over 100 educational sessions, workshops, and leading keynote presentations. The Expo Marketplace offers incredible networking opportunity and solutions for all safety needs.
Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration AND 36 months training or 36 months experience in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.
OR completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File AND 36 mos. training or 36 months experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.
OR 5 years training or 5 years experience in business administration, management or public administration.
OR 1 year experience as Program Administrator 2, 63123.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in planning and executing large conferences, trade shows, and events.

- Responsible for event planning and logistics for the annual Ohio Safety Congress and Expo®; provide oversight on registration, website, exhibit sales, educational development, and integration with continuing education and rating program requirements.
- Ensure contractual agreements of third-party vendors are met for services such as facility, hotels, registration, virtual production, and general service contractor.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to event team.
- Research and analyze event industry trends and best practices to develop and implement new systems, policies or initiatives to increase event efficiency, effectiveness, and customer service.
