DSP supervisor provides services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities based on the individual’s needs. The supervisor will oversee and assist in maintaining and meeting individual’s health, occupational, social, and emotional goals. This position provides caring support and community integration to adults. The supervisor must be passionate about supporting and helping others. This supportive role will be responsible for overseeing and performing duties related to providing individuals with support and services, in a patient manner based on their Individual Support Plans (ISPs). Facilitate and lead a team of DSP’s whose objective is to efficiently implement operational systems.

A successful Supervisor will also exercise positive decision-making, appropriate independent judgments, and conferring with the executive officers on non-routine items or problems. This position will have regular contact with support teams including families/guardians, Support Administrators, behavioral specialist, nursing, etc.

Major Job Duties:

  • Advocate on behalf of the individuals; upholds respectful and efficient communication with individuals and all parties.
  • Provide emotional support by developing an age-appropriate relationship with individuals.
  • Oversee and assist individuals with developing and practicing daily living skills routines. Encouraging independence, hygiene (bathing, toileting, washing hands, dental care), appearance (care of clothing, laundry, appropriate dress), behavior (appropriate responses/actions with others including other individuals and the public), proper diet/eating habits, the preparation of meals, and safety (fire drills, first aid techniques).
  • Oversee and perform direct support and supervision, including but not limited to by:
  • Providing transportation and supervision to and from program and during community and recreational outings.
  • Adhering to individual’s rights, mandated reporting, and unusual incident requirements.
  • Observing any changes in individual’s status/well-being and report immediately to Direct Supervisor and/or other individuals as appropriate.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of procedures for all emergencies, medical, natural disaster, fire, and behavioral incidents.
  • Be the first, check and balance of all operating systems including:
  • Personnel Liability Completion
  • Staff Scheduling & Maintaining Over Time Usage
  • Staff Request
  • Weekly Payroll
  • Training of Direct Support Staff
  • ISP Implementation
  • On site documentation Requirements (replenish forms, monthly collection of program documentation, weekly collections of cash ledgers & filing)
  • Monitoring the Health & Safety of the Clients and their Home Environment
  • Assure the individuals are safe within our contracted responsibilities.
  • Obtain and maintain ALL required certifications (medications, PBS, and CPR/First aid). Attend appropriate in-services and continuing education trainings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of individuals and personnel information.
  • Understand and comply with job requirements as outlined in Agency policies/procedures.
  • Oversee and complete documentation daily and communicate with individuals, staff (home/day program), family/guardians, medical professionals, and other personnel in reference to individuals.
  • Oversee and collect and record data regarding individual’s well-being, progress, health, unusual incidents, personal goals, and other information.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of the agency.
  • Adhere to agency’s attendance standards.
  • Perform other related duties as needed including responsibility for “on call” staffing issues.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Eighteen (18) years of age.
  • A valid Ohio Driver License and maintains a driving record in accordance with Agency policy.
  • Two (2) years of Licensed driving experience may be necessary.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Clear criminal background and drug screening.
  • Must pass physical screening.
  • Complete CPR & First Aid training.
  • Cooperative and patient with a caring nature.
  • Communicate and interact with individuals, families, and staff maintaining the highest level of respect and service.
  • Complete Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS) training
  • Participate in all in-service trainings and a minimum of 8 hours annual continuing education.
  • Participate in orientation and on the job training.
  • Dependable, demonstrated adequate writing skills, good moral character, and able to work in stressful situations in a calm, therapeutic manner.
  • Experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities is preferred.
  • Use of superior organizational skills, which result in timely completion of all assigned tasks and timelines.

Environmental Factors/Physical Requirements:

  • May be exposed to aggressive individuals.
  • May be requested to cover hours other than regularly scheduled.
  • May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
