Job Description
This position is for a facilities maintenance specialist at Ohio County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of school buildings, including performing routine custodial activities, operating and maintaining powered cleaning equipment, and providing manual labor for various tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine custodial activities to maintain buildings, locker rooms, and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly, and secure condition.
- Use cleaning materials, equipment, and methods according to predetermined standards.
- Learn and apply knowledge of schedules, procedures, and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work.
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean working order and provide proper security.
- Operate and maintain powered cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbing machines, automatic scrubbers, wet/dry vacuums, carpet vacuums, carpet shampooers, pile brush vacuums, and pressure washers.
- Perform grounds care tasks in assigned areas, including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, watering, fertilizing, reseeding, applying fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and sterilants.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED certificate and previous experience as a custodian is desired but not essential. They must also meet health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.
