Fire Safety Inspector Trainee - 20060353

The Division of the State Fire Marshal keeps Ohioans safe when they are at home, and out and about. This includes modernizing and enforcing the Ohio Fire Code; training and certifying firefighters; teaching fire prevention and safety education to businesses, industry, schools and the public; investigating the origin and cause of fires and explosions; and regulating and licensing fireworks companies, underground storage tanks and other fire-related industries.

• Received training to become proficient & assists in conducting fire/life safety inspections.
• Trains to ensure compliance with the Ohio Fire Code (OFC), Ohio Revised Code (ORC), and Ohio Building Code (OBC) applicable codes, standards and rules.
• Trains to complete various reports & records.
• Receives training on providing consultation with local fire personnel & inspectors on local problems & delivers education presentations.
• Operates state vehicle to travel throughout the state to inspection sites.
  
  

Employees classified as Fire Safety Inspector Trainee, 26520 shall be reclassified to Fire Safety Inspector, 26521 within 365 days from date of hire. Failure to obtain the Fire Safety Inspector certification of competency & satisfy the 12 mos. of exp. necessary in fire safety inspections for compliance shall result in removal.

This position covers Franklin County. You must live in Franklin County or an adjacent county to be considered.

Evidence of satisfactory completion of Fire Fighter Certification; valid driver’s license.
