What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Worker position at Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities?
TDC is a residential facility located in Northwest Ohio. We support youth aged 10-17 and adults with developmental disabilities. We have a large rural campus which provides opportunities for our residents to be active in addition to being part of our community. Our direct care staff and nurses provide 24/7 care to the individuals who call TDC home. We focus on support and stabilization so our individuals can integrate into an environment that best meets their wants and needs.
What You'll Do As A Custodial Worker
Our Custodial Workers play a vital role in keeping the facility clean and comfortable for our residents and staff. We have many residential homes and many support buildings on our campus that require frequent cleaning to maintain cleanliness standards and prevent the spread of infection. Example duties include:
Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading & speaking common English vocabulary. In accordance with Section 124.11(B)(2), revised code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination.

- Dusting, mopping, sweeping, buffing & waxing floors
- Scrubbing sinks, toilets, countertops, walls & ceilings
- Dusting/cleaning furniture & equipment
- Emptying waste cans & taking trash to dumpsters
- Washing/polishing windows, glass & mirrors
- Vacuuming & shampooing carpeting
- Replenishing soap, toilet paper & paper towels in restrooms
- Maintaining outdoor spaces by keeping entryways, sidewalks & parking areas free of debris and snow/ice
- Laundering linens
- Disinfecting surfaces
