Under the general supervision of the Nurse Supervisor & with required knowledge of professional nursing to provide nursing & psychiatric care to patients. In this capacity, performs duties including but not limited to the following: Provides direct nursing & psychiatric care to residents & direction to LPNs; assesses health care needs of residents, initiates & directs implementation of any nursing treatment plans to meet established goals for each resident; integrates nursing goals into IPP; monitors health & safety status of residents on assigned shift; Assist in emergencies (i.e. first aide, CPR, psychotropic emergencies, etc.) records & reports unusual behaviors &/or conditions to physicians, supervisor & other appropriate personnel; implements physician’s order & assists with medical procedures as necessary; ensures medication & treatment are administered according to policy, including actual medication administration; provides professional judgment & intervention as needed; monitor closely residents requiring acute care as necessary; ensure proper maintenance & security of the night drug cupboard as appropriate. Mandatory overtime is required of this position.
Assumes primary nursing responsibility for residents assigned including nursing treatment planning, verification & review of physician orders, chart audits, self-medication plans, human sexuality programs, medication administration, infection control, physical assessments & health care related scenario programs, as appropriate to assigned duties on assigned duty shift; participates in related meetings as required by Supervisor; responsible to communicate medical information to parents/guardians, when appropriate.
Monitor health care charts on cottages to ensure proper follow-up & continuity of health care; maintains records of all activities, as required; submits reports to Supervisor including but not limited to: IPP input, chart audits, psychotropic medication reviews, self-medication inputs & physical assessments, performs related duties as required by supervisor.
Requires current license as registered professional nurse in State of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing & Nursing Registration per Sections 4723.13 & 4723.03 of Revised Code. Valid driver’s license.
