What You'll Do
The Bureau of Infectious Diseases (BID) is seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to join the Tuberculosis (TB) Program. This position will investigate endemic or epidemic situations of TB through in-house or onsite visits, data collection, epidemiologic studies, & appropriate statistical analysis using computer software packages (e.g., SAS, REDCap, SPSS, STATA). Additional duties may include:
Position Qualifications
Completion of graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in use of statistical computer software packages; 6 mos. exp. as epidemiology investigator with local or federal health agency; must be able to provide own transportation.
OR
6 mos. exp. as Epidemiology Investigator 2, 65762; must be able to provide own transportation.
OR
Equivalent Of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment Noted Above.

The Bureau of Infectious Diseases (BID) is seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to join the Tuberculosis (TB) Program. This position will investigate endemic or epidemic situations of TB through in-house or onsite visits, data collection, epidemiologic studies, & appropriate statistical analysis using computer software packages (e.g., SAS, REDCap, SPSS, STATA). Additional duties may include:
- Serve as the epidemiology lead worker for internal and external colleagues.
- Initiate, design, and investigate outbreaks to improve the understanding of TB in Ohio.
- Monitor the impact of TB surveillance and control measures and provide mitigation recommendations.
- Monitor patterns in TB distribution and spread through epidemiologic analysis from TB case data and other sources to predict increases or decreases in morbidity and mortality.
- Act as the primary contact for TB surveillance.
- Participate in transmission of data between clinics, the Ohio Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).
- Assist supervisor in preparation of investigations and research for publication.
- Give presentations at professional meetings and respond to information requests from healthcare providers, public health officials and general public.
Position Qualifications

- Graduate or advanced degree in public health or preventive medicine
- Two or more courses in epidemiology or biostatistics
- Experience with surveillance of tuberculosis or other infectious diseases
- Experience using statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R)
- Experience working with local health jurisdictions, health care providers, or laboratories
- Experience in planning and organizing studies/projects to investigate health issues
- Experience in infectious disease outbreak or cluster identification and response
- Experience in database computer software packages (e.g., Access, Epinfo, REDCap)
- Experience as a lead worker
