Duties Of The Alcohol And Drug Counselor 1 Include
This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 9 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (hours may vary/including late night(s), 1st shift. This position is located within our Recovery Services at the Lebanon Correctional Institution, 3791 W State Route 63, Lebanon, Ohio 45036.
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Position Qualifications
On record as Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant in process of achieving ‘Chemical Dependency Counselor’ credential recognized by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board or other Ohio licensing authority with jurisdiction over professionals authorized to provide counseling services (e.g., Medical Board; Psychology Board; Nursing Board; Counselor & Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board); valid driver’s license.
All eligible applications shall be reviewed considering the following criteria: qualifications, experience, education, active disciplinary record, and work record.

Duties Of The Alcohol And Drug Counselor 1 Include
- At assigned correctional institution, conduct interviews and provide engagement and supervised counseling services to clients.
- Screen clients to determine eligibility for substance use disorder treatment services.
- Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge planning with participants (documented in electronic health record).
- Participate as an active member of the treatment team.
