What You’ll Do At OhioMHAS

Primary Point of Contact for Admissions:

  • Conducts admission interviews, collects patient data, completes admission paperwork, inventories patients’ valuables, property and clothing,
  • Notifies appropriate staff of the admission and status of the admissions process
  • Creates initial unit chart for patients, retrieves previous patient records
  • Logs admissions data and distributes reports, compiles medical record reports and legal material for filing in unit charts
  • Retrieves charts: removes completed forms, inserts blank forms, and updates main record
  • Daily responsible for checking assigned charts for needed material and completeness.

Assisting Direct Care Staff On The Units

  • Under direction of the unit nurse trains patients to function independently in daily living skills.
  • Follows Individual Treatment Plans to institute appropriate patient behaviors and mitigate of prevent crises
  • Escorts patients to scheduled appointments and group activities and ensures participation
  • Takes vitals, delivers meal trays, conducts rounds and supervises patients 1:1

Support Nursing Department Quality Assurance Processes

  • Compiles medical record charts, inputs information into the Hospital’s Information System (Patient Care System PCS)
  • Creates daily census reports and track daily unit movement.
  • Analyzes Unit charts for deficiencies and reports to leadership for remediation
  • Enters data into appropriate tracking systems.

Works every other weekend and a rotating Monday through Friday schedule from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 27 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. This position is located within our Central Ohio Behavior Healthcare Campus at 2200 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223.

Minimum Qualifications

3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in records management; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in medical terminology; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing.
