What You Will Do…

  • Manages operation of Tar Hollow State Forest & responsible for administration of privately-owned fire protection area;
  • Coordinates work performed in forest & supervises assigned staff;
  • Manages, directs & assists with forest wildfire control & suppression program on state forest & private forest fire protection area;
  • Performs a variety of administrative tasks & public relations duties;
  • Provides expertise needed for policy revisions & management planning;
  • Starting hourly pay of $30.96/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $44.11/hr.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposed to inclement weather, forest fires, dirt & pollen; on call 24 hrs.

18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in forestry work; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in forest management; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in forest fire control, firefighting & suppression techniques; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in budgeting; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in public relations.

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in forestry; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in forest management; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in forest fire control, firefighting & suppression techniques; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in public relations; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in budgeting.
  • Or 6 mos. exp. as Forest Manager 2, 22332.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
