This position works under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of criminal justice and Ohio's adult rehabilitation & correction system.
- Acts for the Warden for assigned operations
- Works in conjunction with and at the direction of the Chief Inspector's Office
- Communicates matters of critical importance as soon as possible to the Chief Inspector’s Office (e.g., removal of staff/contractors/visitors due to investigation, serious assaults, suspicious deaths, overdoses, escapes, suicides)
- Coordinates investigations with Chief Inspector’s Office
- Serves as the liaison between the Warden and the Ohio Highway Patrol, prosecutors office and other law enforcement agencies in all investigative matters of incarcerated individuals and/or staff
- Conducts investigations dealing with drugs, contraband, employee/incarcerated individuals relationships and violations of laws, rules and/or policies by visitors and/or staff
- Monitors incarcerated individuals phone system
- Serves as the administrative liaison between the warden, resident population and staff in matters of litigation against the institution and staff
- Attends training as directed and effectively utilizes technology
- Researches and responds to inquiries and complaints from the general public and outside agencies
- Prepares reports, position papers, legal documents and/or correspondence
- Represents the Warden for orientation of new staff & incarcerated individuals
- Trains staff on investigative techniques
- Serves on institutional committees
- Attends training as directed
- Acts as the duty officer as assigned
- Or completion of undergraduate major core program in criminal justice or related field.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
