Responsible for performing tasks in at least one area of the Finishing Department, which includes wash, sandblast, metalizing, galvanization, dip tank, and powder coat processes as detailed in the job traveler. This role involves working as part of a team, requiring coordination, communication, and collaboration. Work is reviewed by a supervisor to ensure quality and accuracy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform finishing tasks such as wash, sandblast, metalizing, galvanization, dip tank, or powder coat according to job traveler specifications.
- Communicate effectively with team members and during shift changes.
- Follow all operating procedures, process instructions, and safety procedures.
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork, including time cards, job travelers, and material/bundle tags.
- Keep personal and common work areas clean and organized.
- Recognize and immediately report any quality issues to supervision.
- Work from specifications, worksheets, dimensions, color codes, travelers, verbal and written instructions to execute finishing department needs.
- Properly prepare and/or clean items and surfaces for processing through the finishing department.
- Use the company’s ERP system, EPICOR, to properly transact work product steps and account for production time.
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines.
- Train new associates as required.
- Engage in cross-training in different areas within the organization to gain a deeper understanding of the Ohio Gratings product line and advance your career. This may include learning new skills such as welding or material handling if instructed by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to safely operate gantry or overhead cranes, forklifts, and various hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and understand standard and metric measures, and perform mathematical operations with whole numbers and fractions.
- Preferred: One or more years of prior coating experience with a steel or aluminum manufacturer.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to take stairs, work around constantly moving machinery, and be exposed to weather elements.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull grating material of various sizes and weights for long periods.
- Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds, using proper lifting techniques, help from another employee, or available lifting/moving equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly works on the production floor with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold.
- Requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring adherence to safety rules and standards.
