Ohio Gratings, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Machine Repair Technician to install, maintain, perform preventive maintenance (PM), and repair machinery and peripheral equipment. This role is essential to our production operations and offers a dynamic, hands-on environment for those passionate about mechanical and electrical systems. The Maintenance Technician will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery while upholding Ohio Gratings values.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspection and Testing: Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment. Listen for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operations with production employees and supervisors.
- Repair and Maintenance: Dismantle defective machines and equipment to install new or repaired parts. Perform lubrication on shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.
- Electrical Work: Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical/electronic components of machinery. Install machine control systems and repair automated machinery.
- Installation: Layout, assemble, and install new manufacturing equipment.
- General Duties: Execute other tasks assigned by the supervisor or manager.
- Tool Handling: Utilize hand tools and welders, work from high lifts, and handle various oils and solvents.
- Software Use: Learn and use the company's ERP system, EPICOR, to properly transact work product steps and account for production time.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety rules and guidelines set forth by Ohio Gratings, Inc., and attend required safety training.
- Preventive Maintenance Inspections: Perform preventive maintenance inspections and services on machines.
- Cleaning: Thoroughly clean machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary. Oil and lubricate moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
- Reporting: Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts. Prepare reports documenting work performed.
- Shop Maintenance: Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Scheduling: Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the product manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required. Make necessary modifications and implement test runs; confer with the product manager regarding test results and make additional alterations to machinery as required.
- Cross-Training: Engage in cross-training in different areas within the organization to gain a deeper understanding of the Ohio Gratings product line and advance your career. This may include learning new skills if instructed by management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Work Experience, and Proficiencies:
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery. Must be able to visually inspect machines. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The physical demands also include the ability to take stairs, work around constantly moving machinery, and exposure to weather elements.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to solve basic problems that may arise on the job. Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Ability to communicate any issues or problems to upper management while also being able to work with other staff members to get a particular job completed. Good communication skills.
- Work Style: Works well independently and with others. Organized with attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience required.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience preferred in multi-disciplinary fields including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical power (480V), and machine control systems.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical power systems.
- Advanced blueprint reading, wiring schematics, and drawing interpretation.
- Use of measurement tools such as dial calipers and tape measures.
- Application of arithmetic and geometry to solve maintenance issues.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication equipment, welders, cranes, lift trucks, and PLC/CNC systems.
