ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform set-up, adjustment, and operation of a variety of manual machines within the machine shop.
- Operate fabrication machinery to produce parts used in manufacturing processes.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used on machines.
- Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools to check tolerances and quality of parts produced.
- Examine and measure completed units and parts to identify defects and ensure units conform with predetermined specifications; adjust machine controls to resolve production errors.
- Maintain accurate records in the company's system regarding time to complete the job, completed quantity, and scrap quantity.
- Read and understand layouts, job travelers, and blueprints for the parts being run, including geometric tolerancing.
- Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required.
- Follow set-up procedures and recommend improvements.
- Inspect machinery for any needed repairs; perform minor repairs within expertise.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area.
- Comply with applicable safety standards and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES:
- Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
- Journeyman Machinist desired.
- Ability to read blueprints and plans.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational/technical school training and apprenticeship in Machining Technology preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of standing and bending required.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds at a time.
