ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for cutting to correct size and dimensions various grating products as defined by the job orders.
- Responsible for the verification of cutting accuracy while optimizing material usage. Accurately review all daily job orders in order to maximize efforts when cutting stock materials.
- Accurately complete all paperwork and time sheets to properly manage inventory. Ability to maintain quantity and quality standards to maintain production levels.
- Safe operation and use of various power tools.
- Safe operation and usage of forklifts and overhead cranes to assist in the movement and placement of materials.
- Work with other members of a team of fabricators.
- Troubleshoot and assist operators with fabrication or related questions in the business units as required.
- Understanding and knowledge of all materials being cut and the nuances associated.
- Knowledge and understanding of the routine preventative maintenance of equipment. Keep personal and common work areas clean and organized.
- Perform other duties and cross-train as assigned by supervision.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES: A High School diploma or equivalent is required. The candidate must have be able to operate all forms of Saw Operation Equipment with 3 or more years of training and/or demonstrated experience as required. The use and safe operation of various hand and power tools are also required. The candidate must also be able to read and understand standard and metric measures and be able to add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s and 100s without the use of a calculator. Candidates must be a team player and have the ability to read, interpret and comprehend blueprint drawings Candidates with two or more years’ experience with overhead cranes or forklifts and two or more years of prior manufacturing experience with a steel or aluminum manufacturer are preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee engages in repetitive movement tasks that require the employee to stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, grasp, push and pull grating material of various size and weights for long periods of time. The employee will regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Such tasks must be undertaken using proper lifting techniques and may be performed with help from another employee and/or other available resources (e.g. lifting or moving equipment).
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the essential duties of this job the employee is regularly working on the production floor. The work environment requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The employee will experience exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis and is exposed to machine and tool hazards that require care and attention to safety rules and standards.
