What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Technician position at Ohio Lumex?
Ohio Lumex Company Inc. is a mid-size company that manufacturers analytical and scientific instruments. We are currently looking for a bright, hard-working, and detail-oriented person with good technical skills to join our Production Department. The assembly technician will utilize their skills to assemble instruments, sub-components, wiring harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies. They will perform soldering, fitting/mounting of mechanical components, and repairs on parts and equipment. In addition, they will read and interpret detailed schematics, engineering drawings, and wiring schematics. Work is done in conjunction with others and under supervision.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Assemble instruments in accordance with production schedules
- Solder components to circuit boards, switches, connectors and cables
- Assemble mechanical assemblies utilizing common hand tools and power tools
- Machine simple panels and brackets from raw material and engineering drawings
- Interpret electrical and mechanical engineering drawings and schematics
- Perform accurate wiring techniques, including harnessing terminations and connectors
- Follow established work processes, procedures, standards, and methods
- Uses various assembly tools to assemble, adjust, or repair an assembly
- Perform manufacturing tests and written documentation as the need arises
- Maintain equipment and performs housekeeping duties
- Will be asked to perform various other tasks as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in the use of a personal computer to retrieve technical drawings, documents, and instructions
- Aptitude to understand the theory of electronic circuitry and electrical components
- Experience in manufacturing, electromechanical assembly preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, positive attitude
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
- Ability to lift/move material up to 40 pounds
- Familiarity with CNC machining and 3D printing is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including English)
- Must be able to legally work in the US
- Must pass a criminal background check and random drug screenings
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent
- Internship from a trade school with applicable skills, preferred
