What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Coder position at Ohio NE Brand?
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses.
- Review clinical documentation and records to ensure the correct codes are applied.
- Ensure codes are assigned following industry regulations and guidelines.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and other payers.
- Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims, rejections, and denials to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Resolve billing issues and discrepancies with insurance companies and patients.
- Participate in audits and reviews to maintain coding accuracy and compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC or AHIMA, is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in an FQHC establishment.
- Proficiency in coding systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience with NextGen and billing software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with billing and coding for medical services is preferred.
