Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a dynamic alumni and donor relations program that fosters meaningful connections, encourages giving, and strengthens lifelong engagement with the university. This role involves strategically coordinating initiatives that drive alumni engagement, enhance donor stewardship, and promote financial support through annual giving campaigns. By executing targeted engagement, communication, and fundraising strategies, the Associate Director will ensure a consistent and impactful experience for both alumni and donors, contributing to the long-term success and growth of the university’s alumni engagement and annual giving program.
Scope:
The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving will work to create and execute strategic engagement, communication, and giving opportunities for University alumni and friends. Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, the director will analyze donor data to inform and execute event planning, outreach strategies, digital engagement, and affinity engagement and giving. The ultimate goal of the position is to develop strategic and meaningful events, engagement, and giving opportunities that fulfill the Advancement mission to build, sustain, and recognize relationships in support of ONU.
Principal Responsibilities
Create, envision, plan and measure the effectiveness of various programs, communication strategies, and events for alumni and friends of the university. These opportunities should foster engagement, participation and giving financial resources.
Create a strategic pathway to work with internal constituents, campus departments, and alumni groups to request support with affinity events, communications, and fundraising initiatives.
Partner with development staff, when appropriate, to steward and recognize individual donors and volunteers.
Develop, implement, and provide reporting for Annual Giving initiatives (e.g. CrowdFunding).
With input and approval from the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, propose, plan, develop and lead university programs including but not limited to, reunions, homecoming, recognition/award programs, crowdfunding, regional alumni events, digital engagement, affinity groups, and alumni admissions partnerships.
Support Day of Giving through reviewing materials, volunteer management, student engagement, and day of event logistics.
Coordinate various special events – on and off campus.
Engage alumni and friends in the life of ONU through consistent and positive communication using, but not limited to electronic, print, and social media.
Provide exceptional customer service and responsiveness to colleagues, alumni, and friends of ONU.
Manage student and recent alumni engagement plans to build life-long connection and continued engagement with ONU.
Communicate daily with alumni and friends of ONU via letters, personal visits, email, social media, phone and campus tours.
Manage alumni communications, event invitations, website updates and electronic communications with collaboration of Marketing and Brand Strategy and assist with mass marketing, mailings, and appeals.
Oversee event and donation software. Create and manage event registrations. Build and monitor donation forms and campaign pages.
Create, schedule, send, and evaluate mass emails to alumni and friends of ONU.
In collaboration with office staff recruit, hire, train, and supervise employees / interns as needed.
Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, develop professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor.
Regularly communicate with supervisor and advancement leadership regarding all principal responsibilities.
Maintain the highest standard of confidentiality in handling information.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
Direct experience with alumni relations, annual giving, public relations, event planning, volunteer management, or a related field in which the candidate can demonstrate a successful track record.
Ability to self initiate problem solving through the identification and exploration of issues.
Outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability and commitment to travel and attend evening and weekend events as required.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Two or more years of similar work experience
