Job Summary:
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for ensuring building maintenance and providing on-call support. The person must be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, display a strong commitment to student learning, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively.
Scope:
This is a live-in position, responsible for being a liaison between Physical Plant and Residence Life, doing facility management, performing facility inspection, serving on the professional on-call roster, participating in behavioral intervention, representing Residence Life for Admission events, and leading and collaborating with others on departmental initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities
Facilities Management (35%)
- Oversee general facility operation of the area
- Attend to facility needs and issues including housing operations, opening, closing, and monitoring cleanliness and maintenance of facilities
- Assist with room changes, check-in/out, housing selection, and damage billing
- Oversee Room Condition Reports, occupancy census, building inspections, furniture inventory, and key inventory
- Report/Track and follow up on work orders, health and safety inspections, fire drills, and notification of safety, custodial, and maintenance issues and needs.
- Coordinate vacancy turnover tasks and break-housing
- Walkthrough buildings each week
Facilities Liaison (15%)
- Create and maintain an effective working relationship with Public Safety and Physical Plant
- Indirectly supervise Senior Resident Assistants in regards to work order management
- Conduct monthly 1:1s
- Discuss community concerns and facilitate professional development experiences
- Provide formal and informal feedback regarding job performance
Student Intervention Support & On-Call (15%)
- Serve in Professional On-Call Staff rotation for campus crisis response
- Provide assistance to students experiencing emotional, academic, physical, and/or interpersonal difficulties
- Collaborate with campus partners to intervene and support students of concern and at-risk students
- Provide leadership during times of crisis and assist in emergency situations as needed
- Implement university and residence life policies, rules, and procedures
Break Housing (10%)
- Oversee the approval/denial of students applying to stay on campus over Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring Break
- Notify students of their approval or denial
Programming (10%)
- Execute 1 department-wide program (i.e. Homecoming Parade)
- Advise/Co-chair 1-2 Residence Life Committees
Admissions Representation (10%)
- Represent Residence Life at Polar Preview day and Orange and Black day for Admission
Collaborative/Other (5%)
- Contribute to staff recognition, recruiting, RA selection, and promotion
- Assist with RA training and monthly power hour as needed in collaboration with the Assistant Director
- Purchase items for the department when needed using a university credit card
- Adequately address student needs and concerns
- Maintain high visibility, be approachable, and be active in the halls
- Participate in the campus community
- Engage with other departments and personnel in the administration of primary duties
- Cultivate a positive and engaging living environment that fosters a sense of belonging
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Residence Life
- Working knowledge of Adirondack Solutions (THD) and/or similar housing software
- Crisis Management Experience
