Job Summary:
The Box Office Assistant is responsible for providing patrons with superior customer service while selling tickets, subscriptions and memberships to the public over the phone and in-person leading to customer satisfaction and retention. They also assist with all front-of-house activities during events at the Freed Center and ensure that the experience of each patron is enjoyable and safe. The BoxOffice Assistant is expected to have a high degree of professional behavior and accuracy and be available to work evening and weekend events.
Principal Responsibilities
- Communicate arts information for events including making recommendations for additional events (i.e., suggestive selling)
- Accurately and thoroughly record sales and patron data using the customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Develop relationship/rapport with patrons and constituents including alumni, parents, current students, faculty, staff and friends of the University
- Provide administrative support to the Director including, but not limited to, correspondence and research
- Assist with implementation of marketing and advertising campaigns
- Accurately balance daily accounting sessions including check, cash, receivables and credit card sales
- Manage routine patron problems and questions
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of policy and software
- Assist with front of house operations during events including ushering, scanning tickets, maintaining order and ensuring adherence to safety rules and published policies, guiding patrons to exits and provide instruction and assistance in case of emergency
- Availability to work evening and weekend events, sometimes scheduled during Homecoming Weekend and at the beginning of Thanksgiving Break
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Basic math/banking skills are essential; must be able to calculate figures and apply basic algebra skills
- Exceptional computer skills including the ability to learn and utilize new software
- Ability to handle cash responsibly and accurately
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents and to effectively present information to various audiences
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Punctuality
- Ability to represent the University and the Freed Center in a positive manner
- An interest in the performing arts is preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled as an ONU student
- Good academic standing
