The Physical Therapist plans, organizes, and directs Physical Therapy Services by current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and may be directed by the administrator, to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care can always be maintained.
Physical Therapist Job Duties:
- Plans develop, organize, implement, evaluates, and directs physical therapy, as well as its programs and activities, by current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
- Develops and maintains physical therapy standards.
- Determines the staffing needs of the physical therapy department necessary to meet the needs of the residents.
- Provides guidance and training for new and/or less experienced personnel.
- Assists the physician in evaluating the patient's level of function.
- Performs patient tests, measurements, and evaluations - such as range of motion and manual muscle tests, gait and function analysis, and body parts measurements - and records and evaluates findings to aid in establishing or revising specifics of treatment programs.
- Plans and administers prescribed physical therapy treatment programs for patients to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body parts.
- Performs and submits required documentation of patient evaluations, plans of care, clinical notes, and progress reports.
Physical Therapist Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Holds current license and/or registration in the state (as applicable).
- Experience in skilled healthcare, hospital, or healthcare required.
