JOB SUMMARY
The Sorter supports and is under the direction of the Plant Production Supervisor to visually review a variety of metal products (hanger rods, child anchors, laser cut tubular products, etc.) to determine whether they are good, conforming products or non-conforming products. They will record data, print labels, move bins to/from other locations and assist the Plant Production Supervisor with packaging and shipping duties which includes building boxes, packaging bulk rods into totes or boxes, scale counting, etc. In addition, they may be asked to perform tasks outside of this realm, such as cleaning or organizing. The Plant Supervisor or Quality Manager may give them special projects to assist with as well.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Inspect, test or measure metal products as required.
- Review and analyze production samples to evaluate product quality.
- Occasionally use variable measuring devices such as calipers or micrometers. Use attribute gages such as taper gages, dent depth gages, gage pins and part specific gages.
- File burrs off non-conforming product to bring it in spec.
- Safe launch inventory through Plex.
- Use a digital scale to package small products.
- Build boxes using a tape gun.
- Wrap pallets of boxes using a wrapping machine.
- Move baskets or pallets as required using a forklift or floor jack.
- Clean, organize and maintain sort area.
- Red tag containers that have non-conforming parts and establish clean point in production between good and suspect product.
- Participate in 6S and Internal Audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and /or OPP management representatives.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Prefer six (6) months of warehousing and inventory experience.
- Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules.
- Ability to read, understand and follow directions/instructions.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment screening (background check and drug screen).
- Identified candidates must be able to work overtime (daily, weekends and holidays).
- Must be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Report for work on time to support production startup.
