What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deli Merchandiser /Trainer position at Ohio Premium Provisions?
Ohio Premium Provisions, Inc. an authorized local purveyor for the Boar's Head Brand is looking for enthusiastic qualified Merchandisers with Food Handling or Restaurant Experience in the Cincinnati/Dayton Area. This person would be working primarily at retail store level. The Deli Merchandiser/ Trainer will be responsible for Merchandising the Boar's Head Brand Products, building displays, and assuring that the Boar's Head sections and program standards are being met. They will also be responsible for training deli associates in a variety of venues, including deli slicing skills, product knowledge, customer service techniques, basic merchandising skills and other specialty food programs. The individual may also be responsible for performing product related selling events.
Responsibilities
- Identify training needs by evaluating strengths and weaknesses
- Develop or oversee the production of classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids and manuals
- Train sales associates in a variety of venues, including deli slicing skills, product knowledge, customer service techniques, basic merchandising skills and specialty programs.
- Identify,create and maintain tools to effectively train.
- Maintain daily/weekly notes and submit to supervisors
- Complete Necessary reports as directed by Boar's Head and Ohio Premium Provisions, Inc.
- Maintain training records for all individuals both internal and external.
- Meet and Maintain training goals.
- Candidates must be comfortable with "hands on" food preparation and product handling in a kitchen environment/deli environment.
- Support and develop relationships with key individuals of our current retail partners.
- Promote the and follow the Boar’s Head Vision Process and take corrective action if Brand standards are not met.
- Coordinate activities required to support in-market New Store Openings, Re-Grand Openings, and / or store conversions.
- Notify accounts of upcoming selling events and support these events as needed.
- Perform and or support selling events. This may include slicing products, preparing recipes, setting up events, cooking etc.
- May be asked to support sales team by setting displays, taking inventory, rotating products,etc
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Professional and positive demeanor
- Set high standards for themselves and others
- Self driven and organized
- Be able to influence change
- Culinary experience a plus
- Must have experience working in the food service industry (fast food, restaurants, etc.) or retail deli environment.
- Training skills preferred.
- Working behind a deli counter a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Love food!
*Compensation commensurate with experience
