Job Title : Health Information Technician

Job Specialty : Staff Augmentation

Shift : Day 7 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM, Monday through Friday

Job Description :

Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
Organize and maintain medical reports in files and ensure all reports and signatures are present.
Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, and complete necessary forms.
Prepare requests for specific reports or certificates.
Compile and type statistical reports, including daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay.
File reports into health information records, record information in logs, and retrieve health information records from the filing system.
Provide information from health information records after determining the appropriateness of requests.
Coordinate with other departments regarding health information records procedures.

Major Worker Characteristics :

Knowledge of health information technology and regulations governing medical record keeping, and confidentiality of patient information.

Proficiency in medical terminology.

Skill in using a typewriter and / or word processor and calculator.

Ability to solve problems involving few variables within a familiar context and write routine business letters, evaluations, or records following standard procedures.

Capable of proofreading medical reports and recognizing errors. Recognize when medical records information is missing and gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.
