Position Overview:
OVADS is seeking compassionate, dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide essential care and support to individuals with I/DD in our residential facilities across Brown County. Key Responsibilities:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at OVADS, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Personal Care & Daily Living Support: Assist individuals with various levels of self-care, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation, while promoting independence whenever possible.
- Household Management: Support individuals in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized living environment by assisting with housekeeping, laundry, and other domestic tasks.
- Medication Administration & Health Monitoring: Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for any health concerns, ensuring individuals receive proper medical attention when needed.
- Safety & Well-Being: Maintain a safe and supportive environment, following all health and safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of individuals in your care.
- Community Integration & Social Engagement: Encourage and facilitate community involvement by accompanying individuals to social activities, recreational outings, and volunteer opportunities.
- Skill Development & Goal Achievement: Support individuals in developing life skills, including money management, communication, and cooking, based on their personal goals and preferences.
- Advocacy & Emotional Support: Foster self-advocacy by empowering individuals to make choices, express their needs, and participate in decision-making about their daily lives. Provide emotional support and encouragement.
- Accurate Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed and accurate records of services provided, including daily notes, incident reports, and progress updates, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Team Collaboration & Professional Development: Work closely with supervisors and other staff members to provide coordinated support. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications & Requirements:
To be considered for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at OVADS, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Transportation: A valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance and a reliable means of transportation.
- Background Check: Successful completion of all required criminal background checks in accordance with state and federal laws, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), and company policies.
- Drug Screening: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Legal Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable and may influence compensation:
- Prior Experience: Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental health conditions, or in a healthcare, caregiving, or direct support role is preferred.
- Certifications:
- Medication Administration Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with individuals and team members.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a commitment to person-centered care.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform job-related physical tasks, including assisting individuals with mobility, lifting up to 50 pounds, and engaging in active support when needed.
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts (including rotating weekends) and maintain a consistent, reliable attendance record.

Work Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts with a rotating weekend schedule, ensuring predictable work hours allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.
- First shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
- Overtime hours in each bi-weekly pay period, offering additional earning potential.
Compensation:
- Hourly Pay Rate: $16.00 – $16.50 per hour
- Pay is determined based on experience, relevant certifications, and tenure in the field.
