What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control Panel Wiring Technician position at Ohio Valley Electric?
SCOPE OF WORK:
This position will be responsible for the physical assembly, wiring and testing of control panels for industrial equipment. The Technician’s work will include layout and the physical mounting of components, point to point wiring, and testing to ensure proper operation. (Applicants should be aware of UL508/698 requirements) All duties must be performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dimension and layout of components on sub panels and within enclosures
- Modification of enclosures for panel specific applications
- Mounting of components to sub panels and enclosures
- Routing and harnessing of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards
- Point to point wiring of all controls i.e.: relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & additional Instrumentation
- Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions
- Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication
- Communicate red line changes to Engineer or Team Leader for revision prior to completion
- Communicates effectively with all team members, leads, builders, engineers and the Project Managers

- Ability to build control panels to all UL standards and requirements.

EDUCATION:
- Must possess a high school diploma, GED or high school equivalent.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and work boots on a consistent basis and gloves, as conditions warrant their use.
- Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers and spending most of the work day standing, kneeling, standing on or traversing up and down a ladder.
