Ohio Wesleyan University, a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking candidates for the position of Color Guard Instructor. This is an hourly, part time position with no benefits.
About the candidate:
The Color Guard Instructor is responsible for the creation and teaching of routines for the color guard to perform for Marching Bishops performances. This includes: parades, football games, band shows, pep rally events, and other performances as required by the group. Attendance at all band camps, rehearsals, and performances is required.
About us:
The Marching Bishops is a quickly growing performing group on campus at OWU. Reformed in 2018, the group has become one of the most visible organizations on campus, enhancing gameday and community experiences in Delaware. The band is composed of mostly non-music majors, and meets starting in August through the end of November.
Job Summary:

Responsibilities and duties :
- Choreograph routines
- Teach routines
- Assist in drill instruction and revisions
- Assist in show planning and music selection
- Past Color Guard Instruction Experience
- Ability to choreograph routines utilizing flags, rifles, and sabres
- Knowledge of marching drill terminology and instruction
- Ability to choreograph and teach baton routines
- Knowledge and ability to teach visual movements to marching band members
