Job Description Summary :
The Certified First Assistant in Surgery (CFA) provides assistance to the surgeon or group of surgeons during an operative procedure as a first or second assistant providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in Surgical Technology or combined ST / Health related Associate degree program or an Accredited First Assistant Program
- 2 years as a Surg Tech in an inpatient / OP main OR
- CSTF or SA-C required
- Preceptor
- Must demonstrate basic critical thinking skills on their introductory team
- Will perform primary role independently
- Will demonstrate the ability to anticipate surgeon needs and communicates these with staff
- Will identify actual or potential emergency situations and intervene safely with assistance and / or supervision
- Competent in 4-6 service lines, one of which must be advanced orthopedics, soft tissue robotics,complex CV or neurosurgery (cranial).
