Job Description Summary
This position ensures delivery of quality patient care by nursing personnel and other staff in designated area of responsibility via effective planning, organization, and evaluation of use of material, fiscal and human resources. He/She integrates the Nursing Philosophy along with the mission, vision, values, goals and objectives of OhioHealth in Department operations. This position is responsible to provide direction and supervision to Managers, Nurse Administrators and other specialty roles. The Director of Nursing collaborates with the CNO to ensure one standard of care and practice for professional nursing throughout the organization.

Operations/ Personnel Management: Assumes 24 hour accountability for ongoing delivery of patient care for a division or service line, consisting of multiple nursing/patient care units/areas; maintains a broad awareness of daily operations to guide patient care delivery; Participates in strategic planning, service line growth and practice innovator Provides leadership and guidance to managerial and support staff in daily operations of patient care areas. Assists managerial and support staff in identifying and resolving ethical and interdepartmental issues. Participates in process improvement activities and root cause analysis investigations. Provides guidance to managers with performance related issues. Provides leadership in the determination of clinical, scholarly, and administrative nursing goals and directions, as well as the associated functions and processes necessary to achieve those goals. Participates in development and implementation of hospital plan for provision of patient care by monitoring and recommending productivity levels for care provided by nursing personnel. Participates in acquiring, allocating and evaluating human, material and financial resources for specific functions and processes. Responsible for development of and administration of annual capital and operating budgets within scope of responsibility; monitors performance by reviewing variances and takes corrective action to meet expected performance levels. Collaborates with other departments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all patient care activities. Establishes and maintains systems of clinical and administrative records and reports to meet standards of regulatory and licensing agencies and to provide information base for effective administrative action. Strives to provide workforce reflecting population diversity. Ensures delivery of culturally-competent care and ensures safe and healthy, safe working environment.

Actively participates in organizational committees and decision making.
