Job Description Summary :
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates imaging devices, computers, ECGunits, laboratory equipment, dose calibrator and radiation survey instruments. INFORMATION SECURITY Maintains confidentiality of log-on password(s) and security of otherauthentication devices (e.g., key fobs, proximity devices, etc.). Ensures privacy and security of information entrusted to their care. Uses company business assets and information resources for management-approvedpurposes only. Adheres to all information privacy and security policies, procedures,standards, and guidelines. Promptly reports information security incidents to the OhioHealth InformationSecurity Officer. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Performs scintigraphic scanning as prescribed by physician. Performs image manipulation and quantitative studies. Archives patient studieson computer and quality control studies. Receives, stores, and prepares radioactive and non-radioactive materials inpreparation of patient doses. Assures availability of proper doses forpatients. Performs quality control and maintenance procedures for scanning; maintainsquality control and wipe survey statistics. Assures all equipment isperforming properly to obtain quality examinations. Consults with physicians; shows images andor computer patient studies toradiologist andor cardiologist. Provides physicians with quality data forinterpretation. Administers diagnostic or therapeutic radiopharmaceutical pharmaceuticalslimited to those within the scope of practice, through various routes topatient, under the direction of a physician. Demonstrates sensitivity to the physical and emotional needs of the patientthrough good communication. Provides appropriate patient education, patientassessment, patient monitoring and overall patient care. Assists physicianwith intricate imaging procedures as needed. AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Knowledge and application of growth and development principles. Utilization of effective communication strategies. Implementation of specific technical factors PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required towalk; use hands to finger, handles or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk orhear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch orcrawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employeemust regularly lift andor move up to 50 pounds. Specific Vision abilitiesrequired by this job include close Vision, distance Vision, and color Vision.Work environment while performing the duties of this job, the employee isoccasionally exposed to risk of radiation. The noise level in the Workenvironment is usually moderate. Familiarity with all aspects of a fully equipped Nuclear Medicine department.Extensive knowledge of handling, administering radioactive materials andknowledge of nuclear instrumentation and its use. Experienced Technologistwith the skills necessary to work in full service Nuclear Medicine department.
