Job Description Summary
This Physician Assistant position is responsible for providing day-to-day clinical management in the Neuroscience Service Line along with an identified Physician Directors. This position requires collaborative agreements with multiple Neurosurgery Physicians. This position has prescriptive authority.
Responsibilities And Duties

Patient Plan of Care Under direction and in consultation/collaboration with multiple physicians: Diagnoses patient conditions and plans medical and nursing therapies and interventions based on patient assessment. Orders medical consultations, therapies, and interventions. Documents diagnosis, treatments and orders in patient record and communicates them to other members of the health care team.

Assessment of patients: Assembles complete medical database including health history, history of chief complaint and physical examination upon admission of selected patients. Assesses selected patients using physically and technologically derived data, including evaluation of diagnostic test results, and documenting findings. Follows selected patients daily and assesses clinical progression, evaluates and analyzes responses to disease processes and therapeutic interventions to determine the effectiveness of care and determines need to alter nursing and/or medical plan of care.

Procedures: Performs invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures based on needs of specific patient population as credentialed. Documents all procedures and pertinent responses.

Collaborates with all members of multidisciplinary team to implement and evaluate holistic patient care delivery. Serves as resource to members of healthcare team to facilitate patient care delivery by utilizing in-depth pathophysiologic and psychosocial knowledge base. Provides information and support to patients and families, and facilitates communications between patients/families and other members of the health care team.

Participates in clinical committees on division and hospital-wide levels. Attends continuing education as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants - American Association of Physician Assistants

Must have a Physician Assistant Certificate to Practice in Ohio and maintain this Certification from the state Medical Board of Ohio. Must have and maintain a current Certification from a national certifying body (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) and maintain this Certification . Must have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
