Job Description Summary :
Performs a variety of clerical procedures in order to assist patients in obtaining required radiographic examinations. Evaluates patients order and verifies examination by identifying same on the faxed physician order. Answers telephone, files x-ray folders, limited scheduling of next day examinations, HIPAA compliant, performs various tasks on PACS.
Minimum Qualifications :
High School or GED (Required)
or of Experience : 6 months to 1 year
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
- Three to six months previous experience plus six to twelve months of time on the job.
- Ability to gather and interpret data in situations where the problems are not difficult.
- Good communication skills (verbal / written) and active listening skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations and constant interruptions.
- Work is generally performed according to existing procedures and instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
2. Demonstrates competence in providing care and services to patients based on the patient's age specific and / or functional needs.
3. All employees shall abide by the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act HIPA a regulations, which help protect the privacy, security, & confidentiality of patient health information.
4. Responsible for ensuring that person al performance reflects the Mission, Vision and Service Pride Standards.
5. Greets patients and escorts them to dressing rooms, providing patients with dressing gown and robes and determining whether physician pre-exam instructions were followed.
6. Schedules ED patients when necessary for radiologic examinations in appropriate area, obtains medical record and physician's instructions.
7. Prints films for ED patients when they are being transferred to another facility.
8. Retrieves previous x-ray, either from the basement file room or from the query process on PACS.
9. Retrieves previous folders for MAHC patients.
10. Obtains miscellaneous reports for doctor's offices and nursing units.
11. Accepts written call-report slips from the radiologist, calls the report and files the call-slip appropriately.
12. Prepares charge slips in order to ensure appropriate billing to hospital patients for radiologic examination.
13. Prepares billing for Marion Regional Imaging.
14. Retrieves x-ray films for mailing to external physicians and maintains related records.
15. Retrieves previous-ray films for various meetings attended by the radiologists, all pertinent surgery cases and all MRI in-house and out-patients.
16. Answers telephone, types letters, memos, and requisitions as required; keeps the work area clean and orderly.
17. Makes copies of forms and reports for physicians on duplicating equipment.
18. Accurately prepares and sends MRI procedures, via PACS, to Riverside radiologists for interpretation. 19. Accepts patient's requisitions and faxed copy of the physician written order; verifies for accuracy and logs the exam into the computer. 20. Fax reports to physician other than the ordering physician s on all procedures when requested.
