From its four operation and plant facilities in Miami-Dade, Fort Myers, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach, the company boasts extensive geographic coverage throughout South Florida, focusing on all aspects of transportation infrastructure development, primarily for state and local authorities. Community Asphalt continues to provide traditional paving services which include grading and paving, pavement milling, surveying, excavation, on and off-road hauling, drainage, utilities, base finishing, and highway sweeping. The company also provides engineering, contracting, design and build and finance and more complex PPP contracts services. These projects include parking lots, industrial and retail complexes, road and highway construction, and airport runways.
Summary
Our company has an immediate opening for a QC/Roadway Tech in Vero Beach, Fl. The QC/Roadway Tech will be responsible for assisting in quality control (QC) testing and inspections of roadway paving materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. This position requires working closely with QC personnel, project managers, and field crews to maintain high-quality roadway construction.

This position requires working closely with QC personnel, project managers, and field crews to maintain high-quality roadway construction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform quality control testing on asphalt, aggregates, and other materials per project specifications and industry standards.
- Monitor the production and placement of asphalt to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in collecting and preparing material samples for laboratory testing.
- Record and document test results accurately and submit reports as required.
- Communicate findings with supervisors and field crews to adjust production and paving operations as needed.
- Perform routine inspections of construction sites, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving material and construction-related quality issues.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe work environment.
- Work collaboratively with paving and QC teams to ensure efficiency in operations.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 years of experience in roadway construction, paving, or quality control preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and test results.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing protocols.
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and testing methods.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and perform physical labor.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Certifications from ACI, FDOT, or other relevant agencies preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules such as nights, weekends, and overtime.
- Pass drug test, fit-for duty test and background check.
- Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work in a physically demanding outdoor environment with potential exposure to heat, dust, noise, and uneven terrain.
- Outdoor construction sites with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Noise levels associated with heavy equipment operation.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- May require extended hours, including nights and weekends, depending on project needs.
