The Staff Accountant provides essential accounting and administrative support for the financial activities of the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads (TDCHR). Responsibilities :
Support monthly closings periodic reviews and annual audits.
Maintain general ledger accuracy and financial report reliability.
Record and manage capital assets in financial software systems.
Prepare invoices for grant funding agencies and track capital expenditures to ensure grant compliance.
Assist with cash management including monitoring cash balances and cash flow.
Compile routine and ad hoc financial reports and assist with grant project assessments.
Maintain records in line with organizational policies and safety standards.
Skills / Qualifications :
Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration Public Administration or a related field.
Knowledge of fund accounting principles and concepts.
Experience in grant administration preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite PeopleSoft accounting modules and reporting tools (e.g. NVision Crystal Reports).
Strong analytical problemsolving and communication skills.
Valid Drivers License; Virginia Drivers License required within 60 days of hire
