Ohmshiv Construction, LLC is seeking an experienced GDOT Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating for heavy civil construction projects with an emphasis on sidewalks, curbs, gutters, streetscapes, intersection improvements, turn lanes, and grading for local and state government contracts, particularly with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for GDOT and municipal heavy civil construction projects.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine scope and pricing.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review bid proposals, RFIs, and addenda to ensure compliance with GDOT requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop competitive bids.
- Identify cost-saving strategies and value engineering opportunities.
- Stay up-to-date with GDOT bidding procedures, industry standards, and market pricing trends.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and risks.
- Assist with contract negotiations and project handover to field teams.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, preferably with GDOT projects.
- Strong understanding of GDOT specifications, bid processes, and standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Trimble Construction One Civil Estimating Plus, B2W Estimate, HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
- Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans, drawings, and contract documents.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures for heavy civil projects.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
