Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in foundry operations to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise to enhance our manufacturing processes, work with EH&S of key projects to enhance safety and environmental controls, improve product quality and drive innovation in our foundry operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for foundry processes, ensuring efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and R&D, to optimize foundry operations.
- Conduct failure analysis and troubleshooting for existing foundry equipment and processes.
- Implement and oversee process improvements, including material selection, casting techniques, and mold design.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and project plans.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including safety and environmental considerations.
- Conduct tests and simulations to validate designs and improve manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical support and training to foundry staff on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Key lead on design and implementation of structural and facility upgrades and equipment installations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on foundry or manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of casting processes (sand casting, investment casting, etc.) and foundry equipment.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience with quality control systems and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
