Dock Hand

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dock Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting dock operations, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of cargo. This role requires mechanical knowledge and the ability to rig equipment as necessary. The Dock Hand will play a crucial role in maintaining workflow and safety standards at the dock.

Duties

• Assist in loading and unloading cargo from vessels, trucks, or containers.
• Operate various types of dock equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Rig and secure loads for safe transport using appropriate techniques.
• Perform routine inspections of dock equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dock area to promote safety.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate cargo movements effectively.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks during operations.

Requirements

• Mechanical knowledge is essential for troubleshooting and operating dock equipment.
• Experience with rigging techniques is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Physical stamina to handle manual labor, including lifting heavy items as needed.
• A commitment to adhering to safety standards and protocols at all times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
