Oil States is currently looking for a qualified candidate for the position of Purchasing Agent I in Lampasas, TX.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies necessary for manufacturing with an emphasis on controlling and reducing expenses. Ensure purchased products conform to the customer’s detailed drawings and specification and are delivered per schedule. Assist with any technical issues between OSI and suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as negotiating price, availability, and delivery schedule. Evaluate vendor quotes & services to determine if they are compatible with company objectives.
- Maintain close liaison w/quality manager, production supervisors, project engineers and the sales department in order to keep them informed of any issues or problems.
- Address any and resolve most manufacturing, delivery, or accounting problems that may arise to include defective goods or services. Discuss with the appropriate personnel to determine source of trouble and assist in corrective action. Escalate unresolved issues to the Materials Manager for assistance.
- Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bids. Prepare purchase or bid requests.
- Expedite delivery of goods to users.
- Research domestic & overseas suppliers for competitive pricing & deliveries.
- Assist in maintaining procurement documents in a systematic and auditable fashion in Master Control.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 1–2 years of purchasing experience.
- Experience with engineering specifications, prints, tolerances, dimensional inspection techniques and product knowledge a plus.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and use of email (Outlook a plus). Detail oriented, self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Accuracy is a must.
- Ability to follow complex detailed instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged sitting.
- Some walking.
- Light to moderate physical effort may be required.
