Summary:
The Production Control Supervisor leads warehouse operations, inventory management, and supply chain coordination, ensuring efficiency, cost reduction, and on-time delivery through strategic leadership and continuous improvement. This role oversees receiving, shipping, inventory control, and material movement while collaborating with purchasing, planning, and logistics teams to optimize supply chain performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Warehouse & Inventory Supervision:
- Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, material storage, and inventory accuracy.
- Ensure safe and efficient forklift/material handling operations.
- Lead cycle counts and full inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within warehouse operations, implementing Kaizen, 5S, and lean methodologies to optimize material flow and reduce waste.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, IATF/ISO/TS standards, CTPAT compliance, and safety regulations.
Production Control & Supply Chain Coordination:
- Work closely with scheduling, planning, and purchasing teams to ensure timely material availability for manufacturing.
- Assist in scheduling and forecasting by providing warehouse inventory data in comparison to customer requirements.
- Oversee cost-effective inbound and outbound logistics, optimizing freight movement and minimizing delays.
- Monitor supplier deliveries, material shortages, and excess stock to prevent supply chain disruptions.
Team Leadership & Employee Development:
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and employee development programs.
- Implement training initiatives to improve employee efficiency and cross-functional knowledge.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve warehouse and production control efficiency.
- Assist in developing and refining policies, SOPs, and training materials to standardize best practices and improve efficiency.
- Oversee employee training on SOPs, inventory systems, and compliance best practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on inventory control, providing guidance and support to team members.
- Conduct audits on various processes within the inventory movement cycle, including scanning, inventory storage, issuance, and holds.
Education and Required Experience:
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or related field preferred (experience may be considered in lieu of education).
- Minimum five years of experience in supply chain, warehouse, and logistics roles in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, Kanban, FIFO, and Just-in-Time (JIT) techniques.
- Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP/MRP systems required.
- Familiarity with Tier One automotive supply chain requirements.
- Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory control processes, freight logistics, and warehouse management.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership experience, with a focus on team development and performance coaching.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess material flow inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with purchasing, planning, and logistics to align warehouse operations with business goals.
- Proficiency in SAP/ERP systems for warehouse transactions, material planning, and inventory tracking.
- Strong communication skills to effectively work with manufacturing, purchasing, planning, and logistics teams.
- Process improvement mindset with a focus on cost savings and efficiency enhancements.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform frequent standing, bending, stretching, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to drive a combination of sit-down fork trucks, stand-up reach trucks, and order pickers.
- Comfort working in both office and warehouse environments.
Safety Requirements:
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Lead safety training initiatives, enforce OSHA and company safety policies, and conduct risk assessments to ensure a safe and compliant warehouse environment.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, adhering to ISO-14001 and other relevant regulations.
