What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation - Prep Attendant position at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa?
The Artist Cottage & Apothecary Prep Attendant is responsible for facilitating self-guided activities and hosting guests during our Open Studio hours. He/she will assist in setting up art and apothecary projects, providing guidance on projects, and cleaning up workstations and supplies, in a space with high turnover in peak seasons. He/she will provide support to the Artist Cottage Coordinator as needed including assisting with facilitating activities for private group bookings.
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate is customer service oriented with an interest or background in art and knowledge about essential oils. They will work well under pressure in a fast paced environment, have the ability to multitask, and can be resourceful and adaptable to new tasks/undertakings by using problem solving skills. We invite the opportunity to develop new activities and classes in a collaborative setting. A flexible schedule is required and must be able to work weekends and holidays.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
A strong interest in art and essential oils, previous experience in hospitality and customer service
Possesses the ability to teach art to novices as well as expert artists or art enthusiasts
Proven ability to interact, in a professional manner, with guests and associates at all levels to explain programs/experiences
Proven ability to represent the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, in a professional manner, in communicating with guests, community, press & media
Solid understanding of needs of luxury traveler and ability to provide related services, activities and amenities to enhance the overall experience at OVI&S
Possesses a high degree of imagination and flexibility to produce the best possible outcome in any given situation with regard to guest and associate experiences
Desirable:
Knowledge of various cultural influences in art and other customs
Polished, professional and welcoming demeanor. Professional telephone etiquette
Proficient in computer skills including such software programs as Microsoft Office, SMS, Outlook, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible to teach or lead a variety of art activities in a manner that is inclusive and engaging to all attendees.
Assist with the planning of special events for groups or families as the opportunity arises
Responsible to offer tours and explanations of the unique facility and programming contained therein
Participate in the research and proposal of supplies and equipment needed to sustain such programs
Attend required resort and Spa Village mandatory meetings
Responsible to protect the environment of both the Artist’s Cottage & Apothecary to maintain safety and security throughout
The pay for this position is $17/hr.
