The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for supporting the management and operations of the housekeeping department and respective staff. This position is responsible for maintaining Lost and Found for the Resort. The AHKM, during their shift, takes the lead coaching staff, handling guest issues, and maintaining an overall positive presence and appearance in Housekeeping. The Assistant performs all housekeeping duties when business demands. The Assistant ensures that the quality and cleanliness of every room and public area is met or exceeded prior to guest arrival. Immaculate rooms and facilities and effective, efficient housekeeping staff are critical to a high-quality guest experience and as such this position plays a key role in the success of the resort.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Housekeeping Management:
1. Assist Housekeeping Manager in effective daily operation of the housekeeping department
2. Oversee cleanliness, service and quality standards of guest rooms, public areas, restrooms, offices, and banquet/meeting/conference rooms in accordance with federal, state, local and resort-specific health, sanitation and safety standards and regulations
3. Perform quality inspections throughout the resort
4. Support staff and perform the duties of any housekeeping role when business demands
5. Ensures staff is provided with, understands, and is correctly using all cleaning products in a safe environment
6. Assigns supervisor duties daily and ensures proper execution
7. Assigns Housekeeping duties and ensures proper execution
8. Collaborates with Housekeeping Manager to ensure par stock is adequate
9. Oversee guidelines, procedures, and training to ensure that guest rooms are serviced, cleaned and ready for occupancy timely
10. Understands budget guidelines for both labor and stock and works to ensure both remain within budgetary goals
11. Ensures all guest opportunities are followed up quickly, efficiently, courteously, and completed to the satisfaction of the guest
12. Identifies and brings to the attention of management, service obstacles and works to find solutions
13. Understands first aid/emergency procedures and can direct accordingly
14. Creates an atmosphere of welcoming and inclusion to guest and staff
15. Works in conjunction with Guest Services to ensure room issues are communicated and rooms are ready at designated check in time
16. Works in conjunction with Maintenance to ensure work orders are entered and responded to in a timely manner, provides follow up on all work orders after submission
17. Possesses a “can do” spirit for both guest and staff
18. Remains current on resort offerings and communicates updates to staff
19. Remains current on PMS operation and has the knowledge to train staff
20. Understands forecasted occupancy and is knowledgeable regarding historic demand in determining projected number of guests on property, and delivers, in conjunction with staff, guest supplies that are sufficient to meet demand
21. Ability to follow direction thoroughly and work with minimal supervision
22. Willingly accepts and performs other duties as requested by management
Team Management:
1. Oversees the daily operations of the housekeeping team.
2. Collaborates with Human Resources in recruiting, evaluating, disciplining, and developing department employees.
3. Participates in management meetings, conveying housekeeping issues and updates to other department managers.
4. Cultivates a positive learning environment through clear, specific, timely, and respectful coaching and feedback to shift team members, ensuring operational excellence and enhancing overall performance.
5. Supports team members by reinforcing successful performance positively and offering respectful and encouraging coaching when necessary.
6. Trains new workers or assigns training responsibilities, motivating them while ensuring a clear understanding of the correct daily tasks.
7. Offers support and serves as a back-up to housekeeping staff as required.

Requirements
Requirements:
1. Supervisory experience required managing a diverse staff, preferably in hospitality
2. High School Diploma (or equivalent)
3. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, weekdays, and holidays
4. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to train staff
5. Must be able to stand and walk around the resort for 8 hours or more per day, as needed
6. Working knowledge of various computer software programs including MS Office
7. Ability to multi-task in pressure situations Ability to work independently and direct the work of others
8. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
9. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, receive and give instructions, and prepare reports including via the use of a computer or other device
10. Ability to work respectfully and productively with all staff, maintaining a high degree of professionalism and camaraderie.
11. Punctuality, dependability, and flexibility are critical.
12. Ability to work under pressure with a high level of patience. Present a calm demeanor.
13. Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and communication is a must; fluency in Spanish is an additional advantage.
14. Computer proficiency, experience, and aptitude with software such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and web-based programs.
15. Must be able to work flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, weekdays and holidays.
16. Ability to walk or stand and move about the resort (both indoors and outdoors) for eight or more hours per day, move on and climb a ladder, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
17. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to write and implement written and oral instructions and procedures.
