Description
The most critical role of the Banquet Server is to anticipate guests’ needs and fulfill them, managing the table, the meal, and the guest experience to the highest level of quality and service. The Banquet Server works in the front of the house and coordinates with the back of house to prepare tables, describing menu items, responding to questions, eliciting information as to guests’ special dietary needs, taking orders, serving food and drinks, removing dinnerware from the table and managing the setup, service, and tearing down buffets in a timely and gracious manner. The Banquet Server works in close collaboration with other restaurant staff, follows established health and safety standards, and strives to provide a memorable experience. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets guests, maintains a friendly and inviting atmosphere, and promotes positive guest relations through prompt, courteous, efficient, and gracious service.
- Ensures that the banquet is set up for guests in a timely manner, paying particular attention to details and guests with special dietary requirements.
- Keeps kitchen staff and management informed by noting timing of event progression.
- Proactively responds to additional guest requirements by closely monitoring the event process and inquiring as to guests’ needs.
- Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, being alert to guest spills or other issues.
- Collects revenues by totaling charges, issuing bill, accepting payment, delivering bill and payment and returning change or credit card and signature slip to guests as per established policies.
- Prepares the dining room, space and tables by setting tables, decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, utensils, etc.
- Cleans dining room, spaces and tables, e.g. vacuums, wipes, washes, dusts, etc.
- Adheres to sanitation and safety policies.
- Adheres to alcoholic beverage control policies and regulations. Maintains a valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit and stores it on person, in purse or in locker when working.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- This role requires manual dexterity, auditory focus, and visual attention.
- Minimum three years of experience as a server, preferably in hospitality, fine dining, and/or a farm-to-table environment.
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- Valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit is required before hire.
- Punctuality and reliability are critical.
- Ability to work proactively to ensure the best possible guest experience.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays required.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment where the pace may vary.
- Ability to stand for eight or more hours per day, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures; and the ability to write neatly in English.
