Job Title: Behavior Interventionist

Reports To: Program Director of Exceptional Student Education

Supervises: N/A

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Exceptional Student Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education or Applied Behavior Analysis. Experience with Exceptional Education Students. Such alternatives to the above requirements as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Language Skills: Demonstrates articulate speech. Uses vocabulary appropriate to task and student ability. Writes with appropriate grammar, spelling and structure. Communicates effectively with students, parents, teachers, classroom assistants and administrators.

Specialization Competence: Demonstrates proficiency in area of specialization. Uses resources and materials appropriately.

Administrative/Supervisory Requirements: Keeps appropriate records. Maintains effective plans. Conforms to rules and policies of the district, school, and state.

Instructional/Evaluation Procedures: Makes effective use of time. Provides instructional orientations, transitions and clear directions. Develops concepts and provides appropriate reviews, practice and corrective feedback. Uses appropriate evaluative techniques. Analyzes and interprets assessment results. Interpersonal Relationships: Provides a supportive atmosphere; establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and administrators.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk and hear. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 pounds. The employee demonstrates physical energy commensurate with assigned tasks and controls emotions appropriately. Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Duties are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.

Job Goal: To provide assessments, develop intervention plans, train team members to implement plans, model strategies, and work with ESE students and families to facilitate behavioral changes to maximize academic achievement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates and assists teams at school sites to conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments (FBA) to determine causes of behaviors.

2. Provides consultative services to teams about choosing evidence based and behavior analytic practices to include in behavior intervention plans based on results of an FBA.

3. Provides training to teachers, classroom assistants, parents on the implementation of the intervention plans developed by the school teams.

4. Provides consultative services in ESE classrooms regarding student behavior.

5. Provides evidence-based measurement systems for monitoring behavioral outcomes for classrooms and individual students with assistance from the Behavior Analyst.

6. Provide training in data collection for ongoing assessment of interventions and student progress.

7. Provides data to supervisor and make knowledgeable recommendations based on the data.

8. Serves as a member of IEP team to assist in developing appropriate behavior goals as needed.

9. Abides by and facilitates adherence to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures; maintains professional ethical standards; maintains high level of professional development/knowledge.

10. Performs other tasks as assigned within the limits of the Master Contract.

Salary: Based on the adopted salary schedule for Instructional Personnel.

Evaluation: Annual performance evaluation in accordance with the Master Contract, School Board policies, and state law.

Terms of Service: Ten or Twelve Months

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $46,247.00 - $740,381.00 per year
