POSITION WILL BE ADVERTISED UNTIL FILLED
This position serves schools in the Fort Walton Beach, Shalimar, and Mary Esther areas only.
Position is on-call as needed. Assistance with the safety of school children as they cross busy roadways during school hours. When called to work, hours are approximately 4 hours per day, two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon, up to 5 days per week when school is in session.
Duties
- Assists elementary and middle school aged children across streets going to home and school.
- Protects the children from the path of careless or inattentive drivers.
- Alerts motorists through visibility and conspicuity that children are about to use the crosswalk.
- Lengthens or creates gaps in traffic in order to allow children to cross.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
Standards to Perform Essential Job Functions
Hear at normal range or with accommodation, see at normal range or with accommodation. Required to stand for long periods, walk at a moderate/fast pace, step up/down 4-5 inch street curbs, bend/squat, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment. Working conditions are outdoors with exposure to the elements, fumes and/or outdoor particles.
