What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content Creator position at Okaloosa County?
Develops, curates, and publishes content across various digital platforms, to include websites, social media channels, newsletters, and apps to engage target audiences including visitors and stakeholders. Effectively communicates the brand’s message and online presence through creativity, technical proficiency, and understanding digital marketing trends.• Utilizes photography, videography, and drone equipment to produce compelling digital content.
• Conceptualizes, develops, edits, and publishes creative and thoughtful content in various formats for website, blogs, social media, newsletters, and marketing emails and materials.
• Uses social media to engage audiences, and promote Destin-Fort Walton Beach and various sub brands, to include Meeting Events, Natural Resources, Destination Stewardship, and DFWB film.
• Monitors industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences to inform content creation and strategy.
• Continuously monitors, replies, and engages with social media comments, direct messages, and mentions.
• Collaborates with the marketing team and agencies to align social media strategies with overall marketing campaigns and initiatives.
• Cultivates productive working relationships with tourism partners and community entities.
• Available some nights and weekends to capture and publish content as needed.
• Maintains accurate project records, statistics, and data on ROI of programs and provides appropriate information for weekly and monthly reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience: Associate’s Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or closely related field; supplemented by two (2) years of relevant work experience creating strong, engaging output; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience with developing social media marketing strategies, applying best practices, planning and executing is required. Experience with posting content to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and other social media platforms is required. Experience in tourism industry and/or destination marketing preferred. Copywriting experience is preferred. Experience using Canva, Adobe Suite, WordPress, and Constant Contact is preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license. Drone licensing is preferred.Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to effectively operate modern day office equipment, to include computers, copy/fax machines, and any related peripherals. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to reach, extending hand(s) in any direction. Must be able to handle, seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hand(s). Physical demands are essentially those of sedentary work.
Language Ability: Requires ability to read a variety of technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, professional journals, etc. in moderately complex terminology. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Requires the ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds. Must be able to communicate effectively in English and to articulate information to others.
