EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate a variety of hand held and electrical equipment and tools including grounds maintenance and custodial equipment (i.e., mowers, edger’s, trimmers, pole saws, chainsaws and custodial equipment used to clean restrooms.). Requires the ability to operate modern day office equipment, to include computers, copy/fax machines. Must be able to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to perform manual tasks and remain on feet for extended periods of time. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.
Language Ability: Requires ability to read a variety of records, reports, policy and procedure manuals, codes, professional journals, etc. in moderately complex technical terminology. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Requires the ability to communicate effectively in Standard English.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Supervises and manages assigned staff to include assignments, scheduling, interviewing/hiring, training and development, assesses performance of staff, discipline and timekeeping. Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure accurate and timely information is dispensed to staff concerning policy, procedure, objectives and responsibilities.
- Prepare fields for athletic activities such as: lining raking, etc. Installs turf, seeds and top dressing on field, parks and facility grounds. Installs turf, seed and top dressing on field, parks and other grounds.
- Instructs and trains staff in the maintenance and handling of chemicals and toxic agents used for ornamental pest control weed and feed applications and ground pest control (ants, mole crickets and armyworms).
- Oversees the installation, repair and maintenance of lawn sprinkler systems to include, but not limited to, pumps, motors, timers, valves, flow rates, sprinkler heads and system layout and design.
- Reviews, maintains and monitors work orders for completeness and accuracy. Provides reports pertaining to staff, supplies, equipment and work/maintenance performed.
- Collaborates with the Tourist Development Department and schedules staff to assist in off-season maintenance projects.
- Conducts visual playground inspections of all county playground sites and reports deficiencies to management and/or the Parks Services Specialist.
- Instructs and trains staff in methods and procedures, use of equipment, cleaning methods and maintenance.
- Orders supplies and equipment; schedules equipment maintenance and repair.
- Responds to inquiries/complaints from the public and county staff.
- Oversees mechanical work on equipment and vehicles (i.e., small engine overhauls, replacement of fuel injection systems, wiring of ignition systems, etc.).
- Assists manager in monitoring of costs and expenditures for the purpose of establishing the department's operating budget.
- Assists with budget preparation for the Facilities Maintenance and Parks Section.
- Prepares bids for outside landscaping needs, to include calculating square footage, and reading and interpreting blueprints and plans. Monitors outside contracts and vendors.
- Ensures corrective actions are initiated to maintain compliance and safety standards.
- Performs related duties as required.
