Provides event preparation and support and performs facility and grounds maintenance services at various venues.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
  • Transports and positions event related furnishings and equipment according to diagrams, equipment listings, and booking agreements at various venues throughout the County, to include the Fairgrounds, Baker Arena, and Shoal River Ranch.
  • Configures, adjusts, troubleshoots, and operates audio/visual/lighting components and cabling to provide presentations or special effects during events; Secures and connects telecommunications wires, temporary power panels and power cords to utility ports.
  • Assists with safety, security, and loss prevention measures (i.e., patrolling facility and property, monitoring surveillance systems, controlling public entrance and preventing unauthorized items from coming into the facility).
  • Coordinates traffic flow during events or vendor load-in and load-out.
  • Repairs and maintains assigned venues, to include janitorial/custodial; cleaning, patching and painting all wall and floor surfaces; maintaining interior and exterior lighting; striping, marking, and asphalt repairs.
  • Repairs and maintains assigned grounds by cleaning, pressure washing, planting, fertilizing, sprinkling, mowing, weeding and pruning.
  • Reads and interprets event diagrams, drawings (e.g., electrical, plumbing, mechanical), and facility blueprints; adjusts and monitors computer-based HVAC system settings as needed.
  • Performs weekly inspection of all audio/visual/lighting components and cabling; maintains event-related equipment through inspection, cleaning, and performing repairs; makes corrections or reports discrepancies to supervisor; recommends upgrades and procurements to ensure products and services meet industry standards and technology progression.
  • Performs weekly inspections of buildings, grounds, equipment, tools and vehicles to ensure safety, good working order and appearance; performs minor repairs and routine/preventive maintenance in the areas of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and structural surfaces; makes corrections or reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Performs daily inspections and routine maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, trucks, scissor lifts, large equipment such as tractors and trailers to ensure safe operation; makes corrections or reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Operates motorized equipment and vehicles, material handling equipment, grounds maintenance equipment and other portable power tools in a safe manner.
  • Cleans equipment, vehicles and tools after each use and maintains cleanliness and order in storage areas.
  • Maintains general records (i.e., weekly vehicle and equipment inspection logs, damage reports, daily work orders, tasks completed, supplies and materials utilized, equipment used and/or serviced, fuel use).
  • Supports program operations outside of normal business hours, to include long days, occasional evenings, and some weekends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including trucks, light equipment, and a variety of hand-held and electrical equipment and tools. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires the ability to position self for work in confined areas, on scaffolding, ladders and the like, or overhead. Requires bending, stooping and twisting. Must be able to traverse irregular or uneven terrain frequently. Requires the ability to perform manual tasks, and remain on feet for extended periods of time. Exposure to outside atmospheric conditions is required. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions. Requires ability to read a variety of moderately complex technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Requires the ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of common sense understanding to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
Numerical Aptitude: Must be able to add and subtract; may require the ability to multiply and divide.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to tactfully and effectively interact with the public and with co-workers. Must be able to perform under moderate levels of stress imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads or public contact.
