GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Supports tourism and Destination Stewardship efforts by utilizing innovative research and development strategies to implement new tourism products and pilot program initiatives. Encourages building partnerships with industry professionals and promotion of community engagement, enhancing the destination for locals and visitors alike.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Cultivates productive working relationships and actively engages with community stakeholders (e.g., Chambers, attractions, events, local governments) to advance the destination’s identity and broaden awareness of its programs and priorities.
  • Serves as primary liaison for the pilot programs; collaborates directly with partners on-site to optimize daily program operations and achieve the objectives of the pilot programs.
  • Oversees development of program materials, website content, video production and advertising.
  • Works with developers to test, launch and optimize UX/UI web design, as well as manages website, digital tools and custom applications.
  • Ensures website and app content is accurate, up-to-date, user friendly, and enhances the overall user experience.
  • Recruits, trains, and oversees contracted staff to ensure program goals and standards are met; coordinates daily operations of pilot programs.
  • Recruits, onboards and trains new local business experts for participation in pilot programs.
  • Partners with marketing and coastal resources departments to identify and create new content as relevant to pilot programs, to include new Little Adventures.
  • Identifies new opportunities, assesses performance of programs, and helps develop long-term strategic plans for current and future programs.
  • Establishes and maintains operational workflows and processes to ensure resources are used efficiently; identifies and develops solutions for inefficiencies within the programs.
  • Engages with contract staff, partners, stakeholders and participants to collect real time feedback to facilitate ongoing optimization of programs.
  • Performs administrative duties such as filling purchasing orders, payment reconciliation, expense tracking, coordinating maintenance of program assets and materials, and monitoring inventory.
  • Attends conferences, seminars, and tradeshows on behalf of Destin-Fort Walton Beach; represents the organization through speaking engagements and formal presentations.
  • Supports program operations outside of normal business hours, to include long days, occasional evenings, and some weekends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Web Design and/or Development, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field, supplemented by two (2) years of marketing, web design, education and outreach, or economic development strategy experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Knowledge of web development platforms including but not limited to WordPress, Figma and related CMS platforms is preferred. Public speaking experience is preferred. Experience in a destination marketing organization or tourism- related organization preferred. Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to operate office equipment, to include computer, copy/fax machines, and any related peripherals. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires full range of body motion, to include bending at the waist, using lower extremities and using back muscles. This position requires the ability to work for sustained periods of exposure to outside atmospheric conditions, as well as prolonged periods of sitting and standing. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to read a variety of moderately complex technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, professional journals. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Requires the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical and/or professional languages used within the parameters of the job.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of common sense understanding to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.

Numerical Aptitude: Must be able to add and subtract; may require the ability to multiply and divide.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be able to perform under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads or public contact. Requires the ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy when in frequent contact with various professionals, county staff, and the general public.
