The IT/IS Technician will report to the IT/IS Manager and will be responsible for managing technical projects and plans in alignment with OSF's business strategies, priorities, and growth plans. The Technician will oversee day-to-day operations of the technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, equipment, databases, and cloud-based data/software, and will proactively manage day-to-day IT related systems and processes to troubleshoot and escalate cases where required in a timely manner. The Technician will also assist with contributing to company policies and training programs such as cyber security and employee orientation and will provide support on pertinent troubleshooting issues as needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage technical projects and plans in alignment with OSF's business strategies, priorities, and growth plans.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, equipment, databases, and cloud-based data/software.
- Proactively manage day-to-day IT related systems and processes to troubleshoot and escalate cases where required in a timely manner.
- Monitor projects, maintaining comprehensive project documentation (projects, resources, equipment, and networks).
- Contribute to company policies and training programs such as cyber security and employee orientation.
- Manage Information Systems and provide support on pertinent troubleshooting issues as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Diploma/course work in information technology, computer science, or a similar field.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience.
- Technical experience to include:
- Hardware Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Diagnosis and repair of computer hardware issues (desktops, laptops, printers, etc.).
- Basic understanding of networking hardware (switches, routers, access points – experience with Ubiquiti products would be preferred).
- Basic to intermediate management of on-site servers with experience in performing routine maintenance, updates, and backups.
- Software Installation and Configuration:
- Installation and configuration of operating systems (Windows).
- Installation of necessary software, drivers and updates.
- Network Connectivity Troubleshooting:
- Troubleshooting of network connectivity and performance issues.
- Understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, and basic networking principles.
- Understanding of configuration and management of VLAN, network monitoring and diagnostic tools
- Security Implementation and Management:
- Implementation of security measures, including antivirus, firewall, and access control.
- Understanding cybersecurity best practices and incident response.
- User Support and Training:
- Providing support to end-users for hardware and software issues.
- Basic training for users on software and hardware usage.
- Peripheral Device Management:
- Configuration and troubleshooting of peripheral devices (scanners, tablets, etc.).
- Ensuring proper connectivity and functionality of production-specific equipment.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Keeping detailed records of hardware, software, and network configurations.
- Reporting issues and resolutions to remote admins and management.
- Coordination with Remote Admins:
- Effective communication with remote admins for escalated issues.
- Ability to follow remote troubleshooting steps and execute tasks as directed.
Must have the Ability to travel to Canada sites as required.
