OKANOGAN COUNTY CORRECTIONS FACILITY IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A MEDICAL DEPUTY POSITION!

Starting salary for this position is $24.24–$31.82 per hour DOE and certification level with annual step increases.

The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office is seeking dedicated and qualified individuals for the position of Medical Deputy. This role includes overseeing inmate medical care, ensuring adherence to medical protocols, assisting with in-custody medical emergencies, and collaborating with medical staff and corrections deputies to provide quality care to inmates housed in our facility. The Medical Deputy will be an integral part of the correctional team, working in a high-demand environment with up to 193 inmates.

Medical Deputies must possess a strong sense of teamwork, demonstrate problem-solving abilities, and exhibit excellent communication skills while working independently.

Lateral or Certified Entry Incentives:

  • Time in Service Allowance: New hires currently employed with a public LE agency will receive annual leave accrual time credit based on years of service. Time in service credit will also apply to wage step increases.
  • Annual Leave Front-load: One week of annual leave is awarded upon hire, with regular accrual starting immediately.
  • Sick Leave Front-load: Two weeks of sick leave is awarded upon hire, with regular accrual starting immediately.

Background investigation, psychological, and polygraph exams are required for successful candidates. Hiring is provisional, pending the outcome of a completed psychological evaluation.

2024 HIRING BONUSES:

  • Entry Level Bonus: $10,000
  • Initial Payment: $5,000
  • Second Payment: $2,500
  • Final Payment: $2,500
  • Lateral/Certified Bonus: $15,000
  • Initial Payment: $8,000
  • Second Payment: $3,500
  • Final Payment: $3,500

Entry-Level Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (no maximum age limit)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No felony convictions or pattern of misdemeanors
  • No use of illegal drugs within the past five years
  • No use of marijuana during the application process
  • Valid WA State driver’s license
  • U.S. Citizenship or Legal Resident
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification (must be obtained upon hire)

Lateral/Certified-Level Requirements:

  • Must meet all entry-level requirements
  • Current WA State certification as a medical professional (MA-C, EMT, Paramedic, RN, etc) or equivalent certification from another state, with the ability to obtain equivalency in WA
  • Lateral candidates must have been continuously employed as a medical professional in a correctional or public agency for at least 24 months
  • Completion of probationary period at previous employer
